Jet boating on the Rakaia river is only a 10 minute drive from Terrace Downs Resort and a scenic 1 hour drive from Christchurch International Airport. A very scenic jet boat ride starts at the Rakaia Gorge bridge, you will boat through a huge gorge and above the gorge is Terrace Downs Resort (world class golf course). You will witness remnants of coal, big limestone rock walls and see many native birds nesting sites. These jet Safaris take you up through the shallow braids of the shingle strewn river, where you will hear of the trout and salmon fishing, as you idle through a deep aqua blue pool of cool mountain water. From here we power up through the white water rapids towards the Alps and skim over the shallows with the spray of the fresh water around you, a must to do while in NZ.

A second option is to jet boat up through the river and on return we can let you enjoy a 2 hr hike along the river terrace on a hiking trail back to the gorge bridge, experiencing the wonderful views nature has to offer.
