New Caledonia Safari's
Only 2.5 hrs from New Zealand and Australia the typical 3x3 Javan Rusa here are the biggest in the world. As the sun rises over the Pacific Ocean, you'll have an opportunity to see Rusa Stags moving through their harem of females during their rut with fluctuates from August-September. Sporting long dagger like main beams in excess of 30 inches with white 6x6 tips, the Javan Rusa deer will make any hunter proud to take on this free range hunt on the tropical Island of New Caledonia.
Hunting in shorts and a light shirt while hiking through the tall grass and mangroves, with no poisonous animals or predators, makes this a great enjoyable hunt for all abilities. With opportunities to take more than one stag, the Island also has Rio grande turkey and some of the best sport fishing in the world. We offer a combination hunt/fish option on this Safari, with a day on the reef going after G.T (giant Trevelly) 20-50 lb, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, to Marlin and Tuna, Coral trout and fly fishing for the renowned `Bone Fish'. With fine French foods and shopping, sailing, snorkelling and scuba diving, whale watching or just relaxing on the white sandy beaches for the non hunter, there are plenty of things to see and experience on this Island paradise. Accommodation options are from Luxury hotel apartments, bungalows in the country or for the hunter wanting to really get amongst it, we can set up a fly camp!
The temperatures range from 15c (60f) in the evening and early mornings, and around 32c(90f) during the day in the warmer months. We offer our Rusa hunts from late July-Oct, this makes a perfect hunt to warm up after the cooler winter months in New Zealand (2.5 hrs away).
